WHO WE ARE

Ramzi Matar, DMD
I grew up in Winter Park, Florida, where I graduated in 1995 from Winter Park High School. I moved away for 11 years to complete college, dental school, and an advanced hospital residency. My education allowed me to live in Fort Lauderdale and Denver. I enjoyed the years away from Orlando, but knew I was ready to come home to establish myself back where I grew up. I made the 27 hour driving trek back from Colorado with my brother on the Fourth of July weekend of 2006. Soon after, I started my practice here in Maitland just minutes from my childhood home. I could not be happier.
To some people outside the profession dentistry may seem dull, but anyone who works in the dentistry field will quickly tell you it's very exciting. Every day there is something new and different. Anytime you are dealing with health it is not just the teeth you have to deal with, it's the different personalities, personal circumstances, and a multitude of different aspects that help you determine what is best for the patient and makes every day exciting. I thrive on that excitement and consistent development as a dentist. I make it a priority to keep abreast of all the latest developments in dentistry.
With that knowledge I have committed myself to a lifelong learning and advanced training. In 2009 I attended over one hundred hours of advanced training and continuing education. The state board requires about 25 to keep your license active. In 2010 I am on track to complete about 150 more hours of continuing dental education.
In 2008, I received my FAGD, which is the Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, which less than 5% of active and retired dentists have received. I am currently seeking my advanced training at the prestigious Kois Center en route to becoming a mentor in that program.
When I am not at the office I do enjoy a personal life. I have been a distance runner since 2000. With my most competitive years behind me, I still enjoy running 30-35 miles per week to clear my mind and stay healthy. I have been training Crossfit at Crossfit Evolution in Longwood, Florida and Sealfit for approximately 2 years. If you know anything about crossfit its truly a healthy addiction. I have met and enjoyed many great lasting friendships through my running and crossfit training over the years.
